Physiotherapy is a type of treatment which helps in impairment and disabilities and also in improving functional abilities of the body. Physiotherapy is used for speedy recovery from sports injury by sportsperson. Physiotherapy can be helpful in sports injuries in following ways:-


  1. Physiotherapy Protects Muscles And Tissue: - An injury can badly effect tissues and after a treatment body muscles and tissues need to be fixed and protected to allow them complete healing and avoid further inflammation. A physiotherapist can fix the tissues and enforce much needed tissue protection.
  1. Injury Rehabilitation: - Injury rehabilitation is usually what we visit physiotherapist for. Physiotherapy helps in regaining the motion and strengthening the muscles such that one could get back to playing sports. Physiotherapist advices undergoing certain special exercise in your daily routine to assure you that you will return in a fully functional state. For e.g. An athlete recovering for tennis elbow will need to strengthen the wrist extensor muscle to prevent the injury from recurring.
  1. Physiotherapy Reduces Pain: - Physiotherapist use hands on technique, soft tissue technique and needling to assist in pain management. Alternatively physiotherapy specialized machines are also used to administer electric current into the affected area to provide a relieving sensation. The massage therapy given by physiotherapist helps in keeping the muscles in optimum condition and this will help in reducing the chances of getting injured in future.
  1. Strains: - Strain is also very painful and may not recover in a short period of time but when it becomes serious then you should undergo physiotherapy. Remember one thing that physiotherapy should be taken only after 72 hrs of the occurrence of the injury. Physiotherapy provides gentle massage and some specific exercises to maintain blood flow and muscle movement.
